April 2026 Prairie Crocus Field Trip

We went on the Pasque (Prairie Crocus) Flower Hunt field trip to photograph crocus flowers, and the weather was quite cold, so we made sure to dress in layers. It was still too early in the season, given the recent weather, to see them spread across the hills, but we did manage to find a few to photograph.
We spent time photographing them from different angles, appreciating their delicate beauty against the rugged landscape. One member brought a spray bottle of water to create the effect of morning dew or a recent rain shower, which added a nice touch to the images.
After we finished taking photos and exploring more of the area, we gathered around a fire to warm up, where we noticed two ladybugs enjoying the heat alongside us.
As the time was winding down, we cooked hotdogs over the open flame, chatted about what we had seen, shared plenty of laughs, and left with new photos, good memories, and a deeper appreciation for the quiet signs of spring.
