On March 16, members of the Grande Prairie Photo Club gathered to watch a special virtual presentation by internationally renowned photographer, author, and educator David duChemin.

In The Heart of the Photograph, David encouraged us to think beyond camera settings and technical perfection, reminding us that truly memorable photographs are those that create an emotional connection with the viewer.

Through inspiring images and personal stories, he explored the importance of light, composition, timing, mood, and storytelling, challenging us to consider not just what we're photographing, but why.

Rather than focusing solely on equipment, David encouraged us to use our cameras as creative tools to express ideas, evoke emotion, and tell meaningful stories.

His presentation reminded us that the strongest photographs are often those that invite curiosity, spark imagination, and leave a lasting impression.

The evening provided plenty of inspiration for photographers of all experience levels and encouraged us to look at our own work with fresh eyes.

We are grateful to David duChemin for making this presentation available to photography clubs and for sharing his passion for creating photographs that resonate with others.
